Capitalization

Huruf kapital digunakan untuk 2 hal berikut ini:

• Di awal kalimat
• Proper Noun.

a) Awal kalimat selalu huruf besar (Kapital).
Contoh:-
The postman delivered the parcel. It was very heavy.

b) Kata ganti I harus huruf besar.
Contoh:-
My name is Lynne, I am a teacher.

c) Proper nouns seperti nama orang, Organisasi atau tempat selalu diawali dengan huruf besar.

Contoh:-

a) Nama Orang : Lynne Hand – Elizabeth Helen Ruth Jones

b) Nama Perusahaan, koran: Microsoft – Rolls Royce – the Round Table – the Times – WWW

c) Nama binatang :Lassie – Champion – Trigger – Skippy – Sam

d) Nama kota atau Negara : Paris – London – New York – England – English – French

e) Nama geografi : the Red Sea – Alpha Centauri – Mars – the River Thames

f) Nama jalan, monumen, bangunan, ruang rapat : Manvers Road (jalan), the Taj Mahal – the Eiffel Tower (menara) – Room 222 (kamar)

g) Sejarah, dokumen, Undang-undang, periode waktu : the Civil War – the Declaration of Independence – the Freedom of Information Act – World War I –

h) Bulan, hari, hari libur Nasional : December – Monday – Christmas – Valentine’s Day (nama musim tidak diawali dengan huruf besar yaitu spring – summer – autumn – winter)

i) Agama, Nabi : Christ – God – Jehovah – Mohammed – Christianity – Islam – Judaism – the Bible – the Koran – the Torah

j) Penghargaan, Kendaraan, nama merek : the Nobel Peace Prize – the Scout Movement – Ford Focus – the Bismarck – Kleenex – Hoover
